About Julie

Founder of Ember & Flow Bodywork

I believe massage is more than pain relief—it's a way to reconnect with yourself.

As a licensed massage therapist serving the South Denver community, I create personalized bodywork sessions that help my clients reduce stress, ease chronic muscle tension, calm the nervous system, and restore balance.

My approach blends skilled therapeutic massage with mindful presence, creating a space where you can slow down, breathe deeply, and leave feeling lighter, more grounded, and more connected to your body.

My Approach

"What kind of massage do you do?"

The honest answer is that it's difficult to place into a single category.

My work has certainly been shaped by years of continuing education and thousands of hours of hands-on experience.

But it has also been shaped by ballet. By movement. By nature. By spirituality. By curiosity. And by learning to listen. Every experience has contributed to how I approach therapeutic bodywork today, and every client continues to teach me something new.

E&F bodywork and massage studio operates out of a cozy and inviting massage treatment room in South Denver, complete with a comfortable massage table, a variety of bodywork tools and tuning forks

Beyond the table:

Passions throughout my life have included ballet, aerial silks, high flying trapeze, contra dance, playing violin and cello, hiking, rock climbing, deep & juicy conversations, and pointillism drawings.

The Full-er Story:

My story begins on the Big Island of Hawai’i.

I was born during the 1983 eruptions of Kīlauea. Although I left Hawaiʻi as a toddler, my connection to the islands has always remained an important part of who I am. I've always felt deeply connected to its spirit, its landscapes, and the reverence for nature that continues to inspire me today.

For as long as I can remember, my parents have joked that Madam Pele, the Hawaiian volcano goddess, is actually my "real mom." Whether you take that literally or symbolically, I've always felt connected to her, and eventually that connection found its way into the name of my practice.

Long before massage became my career, ballet shaped much of who I am.

Fifteen years of intensive ballet training taught me discipline, body awareness, movement, and resilience. It also gave me a deep appreciation for how remarkably intelligent the human body is.

Over the years I've also fallen in love with aerial silks, flying trapeze, rock climbing, gymnastics, contra dancing, hiking, traveling, drawing, playing violin and cello, and, of course, massage.

I’ve recently left my second marriage, and am happily exploring life on my own. I am discovering who I am, not in relation to a partner, but in relation to my true self. Ember & Flow’s rebrand was actually brought on by this journey of rediscovery and expression.

Additionally, I've found myself consciously exploring spirituality, psychology, philosophy, and energy. Podcasts, books, and long conversations about how we grow as humans have become some of my favorite ways to spend time.

Another unexpected joy entered my life during the 2020 quarantine. When I couldn't practice massage, I discovered pointillism (artwork made entirely of thousands of tiny dots.) I also fell in love with drawing sacred geometry. A creative gift I never knew I had suddenly emerged, and today I'm exploring the possibility of sharing that artwork with others.

Looking back, each chapter has shaped the way I approach bodywork today.

Movement taught me to respect the body's intelligence. Art taught me patience and presence. Life has taught me that healing isn't about forcing change—it's about creating the space for it to happen.

That philosophy is at the heart of every session. Whether you're seeking relief from pain, recovering from an injury, or simply wanting to feel more connected to your body, you'll be met with thoughtful, individualized care designed to support your body's natural ability to heal.
